doing, because china feels we got to develop. we got to industrialize, and we turn around and say hey you got to stop halfway and do it our way because now we decided the planet matters. but when you have built up that political capital, it makes it much easier to build coalitions. today when the president has no credibility, when there isn t the kind of process that i just described for you where alternative viewpoints are heard, where expertise is valued, when we don t even have a director of national intelligence, which is the position created in order to ensure that the different intelligence community viewpoints, because there is a range of viewpoints even within the intelligence community, usually on most hard issues. but that sort of synthesis and that streamlining we don t have a person in that jock or the deputy job, you really worry it s hard enough in the world. we can see in the obama administration how difficult it was to achieve our objectives even with good process. bu
intelligence committee about the mueller investigation. he and trump deputy national security adviser rick gates were both subpoenaed today. and it may be a little tricky because both of them are also simultaneously awaiting sentences right now on federal felony charges related to stuff that turned up in the mueller investigation. but when it comes to flynn this may be trickier still, something we ve been watching develop all week as flynn heads what we expect to be the end of his own criminal case. as you know, flynn recently fired his long-time lawyers instead hired a new lead lawyer, a regular on fox news where she calls robert mueller the real crook and the fbi the real crime family and says that flynn never should have pled guilty and the judge in this case doesn t know what he s doing. because of flynn hiring that lawyer, there s been a lot of speculation that flynn might have hired that new lawyer because he s trying to persuade the president to give him a pardon. this isn t the
as you know, flynn recently fired his longtime lawyers instead hired a new lead lawyer, a regular on fox news where she calls robert mueller the real crook and the fbi the real crime family and says that flynn never should have pled guilty and the judge in this case doesn t know what he s doing. because of flynn hiring that lawyer, there s been a lot of speculation that flynn might have hired that new lawyer because he s trying to persuade the president to give him a pardon. this isn t the kind of lawyer you would hire to persuade that judge to give you a light sentence. we ve been watching this over the course of this week, watching for signs that any sort of a pardon effort might be coming from flynn. today we got a pretty good sign. the president s first tweet of the day praising flynn for hiring this great new lawyer. a presidential thumbs up for mike flynn. the president has so far not pardoned anybody in connection with the russia scandal but it does feel like those are the train
services. we have other members of the administration of congress in the rose garden, a brilliant day. the expectation he would mix this event with some of the outside forces that are bringing some heat to the white house is unlikely. even though there is a bit of overlap in the company that you reference. but this isn t the kind of place we have been out here so many times, whether it is the rose garden, east room, where the outside forces that create problems for this administration and there are questions that need to be answered, these are not the settings where the president chooses to engage. makes it difficult for us to ask questions from this location as well because of the simple distance there are guests invited to the white house who are in the seats behind me. creating a bit of a barrier to that. but we will be covering this to hear the president s plans to try to lower prescription drug prices, different ideas he would like to see happen in the private sector as well as ch
one of these things. it didn t seem real. why here. this isn t the kind of place this would happen. places like parkland, florida that have no claim to wanting to be piece of history are part of american history. i also worry that the message from our leadership, the message from our president to a community like that is empty. when the president says tell your faith leader, tell your teacher, tell a law enforcement official, they did that. they did that in this community and what could the teachers do. the young woman who you interviewed earlier, listen to the president s words and she said straight up what on earth could our teachers have done. this is operating another a level higher than what students and teachers can do.
