told him that and how reliable that information is. the last words we heard from the prosecutor is this is an open investigation and nobody is off the table and she didn t say no one except alec baldwin. i m not sure he s getting good information. i understand his desire to want to get his story out. you know, but quite frankly, this isn t about him. someone was killed on a movie set. you shouldn t die on a movie set. you shouldn t die when you go to work to make a movie. it s an open investigation that is criminal and we know there are civil lawsuits filed and others that are likely to be filed so i think there was no win for him in trying to get his story out specifically if he wasn t going to accept full responsibility this notion that he didn t pull the trigger i think for a lot of people found that to be an offensive way to describe this tragedy that happened on a movie set.
this abuse even as claims were being brought. simone biles really did make the point, as did some of the other women, that this isn t about him, this is about the system. they said point-blank they want to see criminal prosecutions. we know the office of the inspector general made some criminal referrals, but at this point those referrals are not being acted on. we do not anticipate any criminal prosecutions of those fbi officials named in the report and of course the fbi director and the inspector general himself will be testifying about this shortly. you just saw the four gymnasts leaving the hearing room. it does not appear they re going to speak to reporters. this hearing will continue. the committee has questions for the justice department inspector general who looked into fbi conduct and the like. some of the senators were asking what else do you want from us? among the answers were, federal
0 senator padilla. i think i had a female agent in the room at the olympic training center as well, but i m not entirely sure. i feel like we all had the same people. if i recall, my direct communication was with a male fbi agent. right, in the room. okay. senator padilla? i want to start by thanking chairman durbin and all those who have made this hearing possible. to the panelists, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. i admire and respect each one of you for choosing to participate today, for sharing your testimony with us. today is not easy. i recognize that you each had the option of respectfully declining the invitation to be here, but you didn t. i hope that you understand that your presence here is not just so important to the members of this committee and to the senate as a body, but also speaks volumes for the countless victims of abuse that are out there listening or watching or will listen or will watch. i appreciate the conversation about mental health
something very important for the american people, for america s workers, and we could not let him stand in the way of that because he would go out and take credit. so this isn t about him. it s about american workers. it s about being good neighbors in our hemisphere, and frankly, we weren t going to go down that path until the administration conceded on many of the provisions that they had in their original proposal which were not acceptable and which were not as you ve described the president would describe it. yes, sir? have you had any conversations with congressman van drew about maybe talking none, zero. nothing. zero. one more. the president last night had some pretty harsh comments about your dear friend, debbie dangle, and her late husband. i wonder if you have any reaction. let us pray. let us pray for the president. this is the president clearly
president. i don t care about that. we had an opportunity to do something very important for the american people, for america s workers, and we could not let him stand in the way of that because he would go out and take credit. so this isn t about him. it s about american workers. it s about being good neighbors in our hemisphere and frankly, we weren t going to go down that path until the administration conceded on many of the provisions they had in the original proposal which were not acceptable and which were not described as the president would describe it. have you had any conversations with congressman van drew about none, zero. nothing, zero. conversations about your friend debbie dingell. i want to get your reaction.
