yeah, absolutely. i mean, what other place could we go to where we could actually seek some relief? we re still working on behalf of the people of the state of texas. this isn t a vacation whatsoever. we re away from our families. we re away from our jobs, but we re here to still do the bidding of the people of the state of texas and of our various districts. and so the only thing we can do is now apply a full-court press to the senate. when we came last time, there were only a few of us, and that bill the bill was dead. we did not know where we would go from there. we now have two very live bills and we know that our legislature is going to keep pushing. and so we have a democratically controlled u.s. house, a democratically controlled u.s. senate. we also have a democratically controlled white house. you know, in texas it is just the opposite. they re doing everything that they can to push through things that are bad.
legislature because they have the numbers but when it comes to democracy, that s something that was not difficult especially the second time because the governor called a special session and put a lot of nonsense on the call and there was nothing on the call for the texas people and our great wasn t on that call so there wasn t really anything to keep us there. so i m so proud of my colleagues and i m so thankful to the good lord above that we all made it out and everybody has arrived in d.c. safely and we don t have to worry about dealing with going to the floor tomorrow. so why d.c.? you want from texas to d.c.. you re talking from d.c. tonight. why d.c.? yeah, absolutely. i, mean wet other place can we go that we can actually seek some relief. we re still working on behalf of the people of the state of texas. and this isn t a vacation and
we don t accept that and there needs to be a path forward. the president sees his role is someone who can speak for the need for moving forward on voting rights legislation. president speech comes as most of the democrats in the texas house of representatives have fled texas and flown to washington, leaving texas. leaving their legislative chamber without a quorum was the last best thing they thought they could do to preserve voting rights there and try to defeat the republican voter suppression bill. they last walked out, you will recall, back in may. last night they landed in washington will they planned a lobby of democrats in the senate to pass a voting rights law. in fact some of those in the party of these committed texas democrats might shame them into showing a little spine. one other place would be go where we can actually seek some relief? we re still working on behalf of the state of texas. this isn t a vacation
the republican voter suppression bill. they last walked out, you will recall, back in may. well, tonight they landed in washington where they planned to lobby democrats in the senate to pass a voting rights law. in fact, some in the party are hoping these committed texas democrats might shame them into showing a little spine. what other place could we go to where we could actually seek some relief? we re still working on behalf of the people of the state of texas. this isn t a vacation whatsoever. we re away from our families, we re away from our jobs. so the only thing that we can do is now apply a full-court press to the senate. we have a democratically controlled u.s. house, a democratically controlled u.s. senate, and we also have a democratically controlled white house. all we are asking is that those who are in charge here in d.c., the democratic leadership, push through something that is good. earlier tonight two u.s. senators from different sides of the aisle reacted to the
it s not a question they don t want to. they just refuse to. brian: why are they protecting people breaking the law. it s political. they feel they have a voting base that they think is going to side with their elections when they come up, ultimately, what they are doing is harboring criminals, and just recently in suffolk county there was about 36 sex offenders all arrested, who are illegal immigrants. so, this isn t about illegal immigrants. it s about criminals who happen to be illegal immigrants. ainsley: sends a message to criminals saying you can get away with it here. stats 400 murders this year compare that to other cities new york and l.a. new york 160 so far l.a. 155. you combine those two cities on the bottom they don t reach what chicago is facing. the problem in chicago isn t the police department. it s the mayor and the policies. and until the people in chicago wake up and do
