THE areas of south Essex with the best take up of Covid-19 vaccines have been revealed. More than two in five people in Southend and Castle Point have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, while more than a third have in Basildon NHS data shows 59,791 people had received a vaccine jab in Southend by March 7 – equating to 41 per cent of those aged 16 and over, according to the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics. In Basildon the figure is 56,207, and in Castle Point it is 33,071. Of those vaccinated in Southend, 38,306 were aged 60 or over – 84 per cent of the age group, with Basildon being 36,676 (87 per cent) and Castle Point 24,432, or 85 per cent.
