SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Police Department flew into action Tuesday afternoon to save a pelican from the intersection of Abercorn and Anderson streets.
Officers were called when the pelican was seen in the intersection struggling to fly and impeding traffic.
Three officers, Sgt. Suddath, Officer Urban and Officer Bryant, began a foot chase to successfully capture the pelican.
Last month the Savannah Police Departmentrescued a cowfrom I-16. While they say they were equipped to be a temporary home for a cow, the same could not be said for a pelican. Oatland Island Wildlife Center has stepped in and agreed to accept him as their newest resident.
