The crash spilled chemicals all over the track. The metro station is back open, but mark trains are restricted. Crews have a lot of work to do today to get the rails back to normal again. Northbound 880 at fremont boulevard after a fatal accident. We were over the scene of the collision at the offramp of 880 boulevard and fremont boulevard. The accident happened at 8 30 this morning. Both the onramp and the offramps will be closed for a few hours. Traffic is moving smoothly on a san mateo bridge after it reopened ahead of schedule but there was a little hiccup. Crews opened the span at 4 00 a. M. , an hour early after a weekend closing for maintenance. The signs leading to the bridge said it was still closed several hours into the commute. Caltrain said they had to manually change the signs to show it was open. They will close the bridge again memorial day weekend for do more work. Caltrain service has soared because of the technical industry so they have added extra cars. Matt hopped on a train. You need more rain add an extra car and caltrain did that with a few trains. It is some kind of cold accident dangerous wind chills overnight into tomorrow morning. Its actually colder in d. C. Than in bismarck. Its as cold in atlanta as it is in bismarck and almost as cold in dallas, texas as it is in bismarck. Zooming into our area generally teens across the metro area, 18 downtown, low teens north and west. We factor in wind, this is when it gets serious. Wind chills are now anywhere from 0 to 5 below in the burbs, 4 below last hour in gaithersburg and 3 below in leesburg and Single Digits downtown. This is serious stuff. Reporter too cold for kids waiting for a late school bus that never seemed to come for rose ellen eastmans 9yearold girl. It was colding colder and colder it seemed getting colder and colder it seemed. Reporter mom eventually gave up on the bus. We waited about 15 minutes and we werent going to let the kids stand out there. So we piled them all into a couple minivans. Reporter Fairfax County school buses had a host of problem, 150 buses out of the fleet of 1,500 would not start this morning. Replacing batteries. Air brakes and fuel lines have been freezing and some of the air brakes. Reporter in neighboring Prince William county the problem was also mechanical and road conditions.
