MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY A public ferry between Staten Island and Midtown West is still on track to open later this summer, NYC Ferry said this week.
The new St. George route will run between Pier 79 at West 39th Street and St. George in Staten Island. Work began last month on the ferry s St. George landing ahead of the summertime launch, an NYC Ferry spokesperson said.
First launched in 2017, NYC Ferry now operates five routes traversing the East River, South Brooklyn and the Rockaways. The following year, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that service would expand by 2021 with new routes to Staten Island and Coney Island.
