Nate Nader, 57, is one of about 100 practicing Muslims who have taken part in Ramadan at the Jackson Islamic Center this year.
Ramadan, a holy month in the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide. This is a time for communities to gather and focus on fasting, praying and reflecting. They come together to break their fast, share meals and help those less fortunate.
In past years, the Islamic Center of Jackson has brought over 100 Muslims from surrounding towns to break their fast and pray as a community.
Nader recalls the commotion of people showing up to the center right before sunset with juices, pastries and different dishes to share with one another.
