Senator Ademola Adeleke was the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State in 2018. He tells BOLA BAMIGBOLA about his plans to re-contest against Governor Gboyega Oyetola in next year’s poll, among other sundry issues
You were almost becoming the governor of Osun State about three years ago. Some said you were robbed while others said you lost. What would you attribute your loss to?
There was no doubt about the fact that the 2018 Osun State governorship election was compromised. All election monitors and observers reported that the so-called rerun was a charade. It fell short of all known standards. We won outright at the first ballot anyway. The declaration of the election as inconclusive was a misnomer and preplanned to achieve an undemocratic outcome. This was the verdict of major national and international election monitors and it tallies with the views of majority of our people in Osun State. I

“Truly, she got a federal government appointment as the Chairman of the Governing Board of Adeyemi College of Education but there are other underlying factors. She is Rauf Aregbesola’s ally and very loyal to him. This almost cost her life when Adeleke died.
“She is being treated more like a figurehead in the cabinet and needs to quit. She got an offer and decided to leave the government. Amidst all the crisis between Aregbesola and Oyetola, she remained loyal to Aregbe,” a source said.
But an aide of Mr Oyetola said Ms Babalola was too ambitious, hence, she had to quit.
The Kaduna State University, KASU, has denied the widespread reports of increasing its tuition fees.
Reports had it that KASU increased tuition fees from N26,000 to N150,000 for students in the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences.
It was also reported that the institution increased tuition fees in the Faculty of Medicine to N300,000 as against N24,000 while non-indigenes will pay N500,000
Reacting, KASU Public Relations Officer, Adamu Nuhu Bargo, described the report as false.
Bargo, however, disclosed that the tuition fees would be reviewed upwards but the figures reported are false.
He stated this in a statement he signed and was seen by DAILY POST, on Monday.
