Mar 15, 2021 05:51:36 PM A lawyer representing the State  could not explain in court why it took authorities so long to lay charges on eight former Fiji Corrections officers for causing the death of a serving prisoner in 2019. Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions lawyer Neeraj Sharma said they received the file of the former officers in January this year. DPP Christopher Pryde sanctioned charges against Isei Rakaso, Pita Raikoso, Josefa Boletakibureta, Waisea Sadranu, Josefa Satini, Joji Raqamate, Nemani Vasuvulagi and Apisai Naqamu in relation to the assault and death of Seremaia Naidole Momo today. They all appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou at the Magistrates Court in Suva represented by the lawyers David Toganivalu and Tevita Cagilaba.
