MACON The Chestatee girls wrestling team secured the school’s first-ever team state title holding off a half-dozen top contenders in the girls state meet Thursday at the Macon Centreplex.
Chestatee finished with 103 total points with Alexander out of Douglas County taking second with 89. Greenbrier, near Augusta, took third with 86 points.
The Lady War Eagles held a slim lead going into the second day and Isabella Redlinger sealed it with a win over Osborne’s Kiarra Nylander in the 225-pound finals for the individual state title.
Redlinger was the only individual champion for Chestatee, but Catarina Velasquez (102) and Ashley Godinez (152) both finished second for the Lady War Eagles.
