DDCC student starts fundraiser for professor after fire

Two weeks into her spring semester biology class at Davidson Davie Community College, Isabella Pierce received an email saying her professor would be missing a couple days of school. Three days later, she received another email saying the class was getting a new teacher.
Their professor, Joe Felts, had lost the majority of his belongings in an apartment fire, and because of that, he would be taking some time off work.
When Pierce, a junior at Davidson Early College High School, learned what happened to Felts, she wanted to do something to help him. Pierce originally reached out to an administrator, asking if there was anything she could do to help Felts. She was told no one had set up a fundraiser yet, so Pierce decided to do it herself.
