Rodando páginas. Del libro a las pantallas (lit. “Shooting Pages. From Book to Screens”) is a key annual event for Spanish producers and editors, and will organise its fourth edition – in a hybrid format (or entirely online, depending on how the health crisis unfolds) – on 8 April in Madrid. Once again, its objective is to create synergies between the audiovisual and editorial sectors, fostering the possibility of adapting literary works for the big screen.

A total of 157 books were submitted for the 2021 edition, or double last year’s figure, and they were weighed up by a committee of experts who bore in mind their potential to be adapted for film or television. The titles selected on this occasion are the war novel

Presentations Set for April 8

Rodando páginas “Rolling Pages: Books to Screen” on April 8 “in hybrid format or fully online,” per the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic restrictions at the time.
Having announced their program a month ago, they today (March 3) have issued a list of 10 titles for their producers’ program on April 8. And as it happens, today’s announcement lands midweek in the industry-facing digital presentation of Germany’s Berlinale. (Our story on this year’s Books at Berlinale event, quite similar to Spain’s Rolling Pages, is here. That event is open to registered producers and will be held Thursday and Friday this week.)

This Year: 157 Submissions
Our international readership has long been familiar with the Books at Berlinale program. That’s the event that–under normal, non-pandemic circumstances convenes film and television producers at Berlin’s Abgeordnetenhaus to hear pitches from agents about books during the Berlin International Film Festival. A program from Frankfurter Buchmesse, Books at Berlinale this year is set for March 4 as a digital program, and we’ll have more about it very soon.
