The Calico Rock Gifted and Talented (GT) program has finished its first two interactive murals. At the beginning of the school year, GT Coordinator Kish Pool and student representative Maddie Thornton attended a city council meeting to take the idea to a vote. The council voted unanimously to approve the project. The idea is to encourage tourism, as well as to encourage locals to get out and explore Calico Rock.
Zoie Stapleton was the artist to bring these murals alive. She took multiple days to sketch and then direct the other students in the painting process. When it came to shading, Pool and Stapleton took charge, as the project lasted a few weeks.
