The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement, alleged that the attacks were a reprisal following the Thursday attack on Gora Gan in Zangon Kataf local government area resulting in the loss of seven lives and the burning of 13 houses and two shops.
The statement explained that the information regarding the attacks in Kauru and Lere local government areas were passed on to the government by the military and the police.
It explained that aggrieved youths carried out the attacks as a result of the killing of seven persons at Zangon Kataf.

Six children aged one to five year and one woman were killed on Saturday by some unidentified gunmen who attacked Kauru and Lere local government areas in Kaduna State, while several others were said to have sustained injuries and were declared missing.

Samuel Aruwan ,Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State, has said that seven persons were killed in counter-killings in the state at the weekend.
Consequently, Governor El-Rufai, according to him, was worried over renewed killings and counter-killings in Southern Kaduna.
“The military under the auspices of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) and the police have informed the Kaduna State Government of counter-attacks on some herder settlements in Kauru and Lere local government areas,”Aruwan said.
“According to the operational feedback from the security agencies, the attacks were carried out by aggrieved youths following the killing of seven persons on Thursday night in Gora Gan, Zangon Kataf local government.

The commissioner of Internal Security and Homes Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement gave the names of the seven herders killed at Ungwan Idi and Kasheku villages in Kauru Local Government as Mustapha Haruna (one year old ) , Ya’u Kada (one year) and Sa’idu Abdullahi (one year),
Others are Zainab Zakari (one year), Sadiya Abdullahi (five years), Aisha Abdullahi (one year) and one unidentified woman burnt beyond recognition.

Some unidentified gunmen were said to have separately attacked two Local Government Areas of Kaduna State and killed seven persons mostly children between the ages of one and five years while scores were said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The two LGAs are Kauru and Lere.
