responsibility and that it s time to let them have a shot at this issue. yeah. because they re the ones stepping up for this responsibility, saying this is intolerable. yeah. not only i mean, i m 100%. and they re not the only ones. i can tell you, i m with them. i m one of them. i might be a little older, or way older, but i m right there. and that brings us back to where s joaquin s voice? what are all the parents doing right now? are they going to watch the march on tv? you can t do that. so it s our fault or we don t march. we re going to let them fix it? that s not the way it works. and one of the reasons that i like to be here tonight on your show is that i m with not only my son s best friend but also
nbc s kerry sanders. meanwhile, hurricane joaquin continues to churn near the bahamas. but to the relief of many it looks like it s moving out to sea. msnbc meteorologist bill karins is monitoring all of the extreme weather and joins us from our weather center. extreme sums it up. we sill haven t seen the pictures of the island hit the hardest in the bahamas. that will come out later today. they re finally seeing the sun. that s joaquin, not a problem. bermuda could get brushed by it. the big problem is charleston, south carolina, now moving up the interstate towards columbia. it s literally a hose spraying on the same areas with torrential rains. that s why we could see the historic 128 to 20 inches of rain. we ve already had 8 inches in charleston and this is just the beginning. the other thing we re dealing with is on the wave front. we are watching big waves continuing. we get this fetch that will be
immediate threat in the southeast united states. so here s what we re dealing with joaquin. it is beginning to exit the bahamas, so that s good news. we ll get the devastating pictures today. i m sure they ll send the boats and helicopters in to the island that was hit by the category 4 hurricane for two straight days. here s the path of the storm. the only concern is what effects it will have on bermuda. it may brush bermuda, but a glancing blow. hopefully, no destruction there. let me explain what base going on in the southeast. this shows you the amount of water in the atmosphere, the yellow and green shows you a ton of moisture. that s joaquin. the red shows you where the dry area is. that s why it s a beautiful day in the area of the panhandle of florida and most of the sunshine state. but we have what we call an atmospheric river. so picture, you know, the water in the air, you can t see it. not like real water, but droplets of water. that s going to flow around this
takes only one foot to make it difference. to move your car completely away. not worth it. you have no idea how deep it is. you certainly don t want top do it. this is joaquin, still watching this. bahamas really hard to imagine how they handle 367 hours of being in winds around 130 miles per hour. it s going to be re rough this morning. ed when sun comes up and the storm is moving away. would will start to get some pictures out of there and see what happened. the storm has made this noorlly turn. obvious a very difficult one for us to forecast. we are very confident it stays away from the u.s. seaboard and that s good news. however, the impact are going to be very strong still with very persist tent on shore winds causing a lot of flooding up and down the coast. we will continue to watch this plume of moistures that partially related. there is moisture being pulled up from joaquin. see where this band is going across interior sections of the northeast. the heaviest of it here
brighter. bigger. thinner. even curvier. but what s next? for all binge watchers. movie geeks. sports freaks. x1 from xfinity will change the way you experience tv. keeping a close eye on hurricane joaquin, now a category one storm, winds topping 80 miles per hour now, packing a lot of rain. for more on where the storm might be headed and when it might come here to the east coast of the united states, we re joined by rafael miranda. tell me what you see. that s the question, where is joaquin headed?
