The mock skirmishes are part of the institute's annual Maritime Festival, which runs through Sunday and draws thousands to Dana Point Harbor each September to learn about life at sea during the 1800s.
The tall ships are back at the Ocean Institute for its annual three-day event featuring cannon battles at sea, breakfast with mermaids, pirate school and much more.
