SOUTH THOMASTON South Thomaston firefighters used their “jaws of life” equipment in order to gain access to the interior of a vehicle, Saturday morning, after they extinguished a fully engulfed fire in the vehicle near the end of Iron Tree Lane.

It would have been easy to take down the old and overgrown trees in Glabicky Park but Tree Warden Jon Fobert had a better idea.
“Instead of cutting them down because they’re declining I thought we should lead by example and give them a little TLC,” Fobert said.
The TLC came via Iron Tree Service, which donated a day of service to the town as part of the Massachusetts Arborists Associations Arbor Day Day of Service. Fobert said he was casting around for an Arbor Day project when Iron Tree was looking for the same. He called the day of service a great way for tree companies to give back to communities and to raise awareness of arboriculture.
