City Council members approved a study to determine if the reconstruction of 10th Avenue Northeast is necessary, cost effective and if the project should be done on its own or in tandem with other improvement projects. Members of the East Grand Forks City Council powered through a lengthy agenda on Tuesday, July 6, and signed off on a number of items, from road construction to an overhaul of the Civic Center, which is facing trouble due to its aging ice plant.

A group of Town fans fought valiantly before being knocked out by West Bromwich Albion in the quarter-finals of the Norwegian Supportercupen 2014 in Oslo on Saturday, writes Stuart Baillie.
Stephen Bailey, Stuart Baillie, Scott Gidman, Sam Stannard, Nathan Styles and Rhys Thompson made the trip to Fornebu, Oslo to take part in the annual seven-a-side tournament, primarily for Norwegian supporters of British football clubs.
Forty teams took part with 29 different clubs represented, from the giants of Manchester United to minnows such as Cheltenham Town and (cough, cough) Norwich City!
Norton community mourns police officer lost to COVID
NORTON – Norton police Det. Sgt. Stephen Desfosses has died after a battle with COVID-19.
“Desfosses proudly and distinctly served the community of Norton for over 30 years,” Police Chief Brian Clark said on the Norton Police Department’s Facebook page.
“He was a loyal, trusted and dedicated member of this department holding many positions including detective division commander, shift supervisor, training officer and he commanded the award-winning Norton Police Honor Guard.”
Desfosses, 52, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Jan. 13, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of Jessica C. (Vogan) Desfosses, to whom he was wed for 12 years.
