Trevor Williams sent three winners to the track on Saturday (Sept. 23) at The Loop for a training hat trick, including Irish Melvin, who dominated in the $10,800 four-year-old stake, winning by 8-3/4 lengths over his field of seven other pacers.
The Loop held another 9-dash card, and the feature harness racing event was the second running of the new Manitoba Four-Year-Old Stake. Irish Melvin (Mystery Chase) took the lead from the word go and never looked back. He opened the race with a brisk 30-second opening quarter and mirrored that time in the second panel.
Trainer Travis Ellis continues to reign over the Miami Fair grounds with another dynamite day on the 12-race card Saturday (Aug. 27), winning six including the featured $24,276 Manitoba Futurity with his Mystery Chase colt Irish Melvin.
With an 11-dash card of harness racing contested on Saturday (August 6) at Miami Fair, the first and second stars of the day would certainly be the trainer and driver that won more than half the card.
