KLCI retreats on profit taking on final trading day of 2020

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 31): The benchmark index at Bursa Malaysia fell 17.2 points or 1.05% to 1,627.21 points today, as investors took profit on the last trading day of 2020 prior to the extended New Year weekend. Losers led gainers by 620 to 474, while 501 counters traded unchanged. Some 5.51 billion shares worth RM3.11 billion were traded today. The losers list was topped by Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd, which slid 60 sen or 1.84% to RM32.08, Nestle (M) Bhd, which fell 60 sen or 0.43% to RM138.9, and Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, which dropped 52 sen or 2.15% to RM23.68. Also on the losers list, at the 11th spot, was Sime Darby Plantation Bhd, which lost 18 sen or 3.48% to settle at RM4.99, following news that the United States has banned imports of palm oil from the group.

KLCI reverses loss, edges higher as regional markets pause

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 30): The main index of Bursa Malaysia reversed its earlier loss and edged higher in the mid-morning today against a backdrop of weaker regional markets. At 10am, the FBM KLCI was up 0.92 points at 1,635.91. The index earlier slipped to a low of 1,631.77. Gainers edged losers by 412 to 398, while 413 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 2.26 billion shares valued at RM828.73 million. The gainers included Toyo Ventures Holdings Bhd, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&N), CN Asia Corp Bhd, Greatech Technology Bhd, KPower Bhd, Allianz Malaysia Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd, Top Glove Corp Bhd and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd.

Glove makers weigh down KLCI

As at 3.15pm, the benchmark FBM KLCI had shed 6.13 points to 1,637.77.   The overall market breadth skewed towards negative territory with losers outpacing gainers 601 to 490, while 466 counters were unchanged, 571 untraded and 22 others suspended. Volume stood at 6.51 billion units worth RM2.81 billion. Glove makers Hartalega Holdings Bhd slid 56 sen to RM11.90, Top Glove Corp Bhd declined 19 sen to RM6.07 and Supermax Corp Bhd weakened 31 sen to RM6.08.   Among other heavyweights, Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) rose four sen to RM8.58, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem) added one sen to RM7.50, IHH Healthcare Bhd gained two sen to RM5.74 and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd added three sen to RM4.33, whie Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB) and Maxis Bhd were flat at RM18.60 and RM5.07 respectively. 

KLCI rises 0 67% in line with regional markets as Trump said to have signed aid bill

At 10am, the FBM KLCI had jumped 11.14 points to 1,652.31. Market breadth was positive with 536 gainers and 370 losers, while 402 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 2.67 billion shares valued at  RM929.45 million. The top gainers included KPower Bhd, Public Bank Bhd, CN Asia Corp Bhd, Greatech Technology Bhd, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Bhd, Batu Kawan Bhd, Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd and JF Technology Bhd. The actively traded stocks included AT Systematization Bhd, Fintec Global Bhd, Land & General Bhd and Iris Corp Bhd. The decliners included Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, Lii Hen Industries Bhd, AEON Credit Service (M) Bhd, Top Glove Corp Bhd and QL Resources Bhd.

KLCI pares gains as index-linked glovemakers retreat on vaccine rollout

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 28): The main index at Bursa Malaysia pared some of its gains at the midday break Monday as index-linked glovemakers retreated following the rollout of vaccines in several countries. At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 5.84 points to 1,647.01. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,655.96. Gainers led losers by 460 to 300, while 760 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 5.08 billion shares valued at RM2.15 billion. The gainers included KESM Industries Bhd, Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Greatech Technology Bhd, Ajinomoto (M) Bhd, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, CN Asia Corp Bhd, KPower Bhd and Public Bank Bhd.
