However, Laredoans did celebrate the holiday, and in a much bigger way to some extent even though most spent it alone in their homes with just their nuclear families. According to various Gateway City residents asked about how they spent the holiday, most noted they did so from the comfort of their homes but also surprisingly spent more money than in previous years. Trying to help family members forget the pandemic to some extent was one of the main reasons why they spent more this time around, especially with gifts for the children and elderly of the families.
