The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to become a ten-team tournament from the 2022 season with the addition of two new teams to the league. The two new franchises will be based out in Ahmedabad and Lucknow and their respective owners were confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (October 25).
The Indian cricket board (BCCI) on Monday (October 27) named RPSG Ventures Limited and Irelia Company Pte Ltd. (CVC Capital Partners) as owners of the new IPL teams from 2022. RPSG Group bagged the Lucknow franchise by paying a whopping Rs 7,090 crore while CVC Capital made the second-largest bid (Rs 5,600 crore) to win the Ahmedabad franchise.
