Initially the new recruits of the 10th and 12th IRB numbering about 1,724 were slated for a road trip to Lachit Borphukan police academy, Dergaon in Assam.
Guwahati: Manipur CM N Biren Singh has announced that the plan to send fresh recruits of the India Reserve Battalion to Assam for training has been dr.
This decision was allegedly made in response to protests from the families and relatives of the recruits. They expressed concerns that traveling through Kuki inhabited areas could jeopardise the recruits safety and demanded that the training take place in Imphal East district.
The alternative arrangement entails sending the new recruits to Assam for training, with the Assam government providing the necessary facilities for a Manipur police battalion. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh had recently met with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati to discuss this collaboration.
