HMRC announced recently that IR35 changes will be coming into effect from April 2021 following a long period of industry push back. The coming regulatory changes will have an impact on businesses, the self-employed and workers of all stripes and as such, key guidance has been issued.

HMRC have revealed that they believe off-payroll workers should be treated as full-time employees and from April 6, medium and large businesses will be responsible for setting the tax status of contractors they hire, mirroring a system that has been in place in the public sector since 2017. While the treasury expects this change to raise £3billion for their coffers by 2024, the changes will have long-reaching ramifications for organisations across the UK.
