ASADABAD, Afghanistan, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) A total of 25 Taliban militants have given up fighting and joined the government-run peace process in the eastern Kunar province on Sunday, provincial governor Iqbal Sayed said.
Talking to reporters here, the official added that the former militants who were involved in anti-government activities in parts of Kunar province over the past couple of years also handed their weapons over to local authorities.
The former militants who had affiliation with the Taliban group have reintegrated to their communities and resumed a normal life, the official added.
