KMC hospitals told to ensure presence of doctors, paramedics during Eid holidays Karachi May 8, 2021 The medical superintendents of all Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) hospitals will ensure the presence of doctors, including all paramedical staff, at the hospital during the Eidul Fitar holidays. “Citizens are facing health problems due to Covid-19 and there is a lot of patient pressure on hospitals,” Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed passed these remarks while presiding over a meeting, in which the responsibilities of various departments and deployment of officers and staff during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays were reviewed. Senior Director Coordination Khalid Khan, Senior Director Municipal Services Masood Alam, Director General Works Shabih ul Hassan Zaidi, Chief Engineer Electrical Abbas Shah, Director Cemetery Iqbal Pervez and other officers were also present on the occasion.

According to a statement issued by the KMC, the committee s responsibilities include overseeing matters of graveyards, providing support to bereaved families, keeping record of all graves and burials, and ensuring that no immoral or anti-social activities took place within the cemeteries. The committee would also make necessary arrangements for the protection of graves and submit its suggestions to the KMC for the formation of sub-committees for the management of all the cemeteries in Karachi.

Management bodies to be formed for KMC graveyards Karachi April 6, 2021 The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) administrator has announced that management committees will be formed to improve the conditions of the city’s graveyards that are under the administrative control of the municipal body. “The involvement of social and welfare organisations in the management of the cemeteries will improve the situation,” said Laeeq Ahmed on Monday. “Work will start at six graveyards in the first phase, and then expand to the entire city in the following stages.” Addressing a meeting that was attended by representatives of different social and welfare organisations of the city, Ahmed said that management committees should be formed to supervise the affairs of the cemeteries. The committees will also formulate the procedure to issue certificates, he added.
