The virtual panel of Justice Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Mohi Uddin Shamim passed the suo moto orders on Tuesday after noticing a report of the Daily Inqilab on Mar 14.

The High Court today wanted to know names of those who were cleared from the Anti-Corruption Commission s inquiry into corruption allegations in five months before its (ACC) former chairman Iqbal Mahmood retired on March 10.
The court ordered the ACC to submit a report on the details including names and addresses of the corruption suspects, who were exempted from its inquiry proceedings, to it by April 11.
The ACC has been asked to mention in the report on which grounds they were given impunity from the inquiry.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) could not meet expectations in curbing corruption, its outgoing Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said today. I m leaving with dissatisfaction that we could not meet public expectations, he said at a views-exchange meeting with the media organised on the eve of his farewell.
There was no pressure from the government in carrying out daily activities in the last five years, Iqbal said, adding that during his tenure, he refrained from taking any action to protect the image of the country.
‘We could not fulfil people’s expectations’

The Anti-Corruption Commission could not completely fulfil people s expectations regarding curbing graft, outgoing ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said yesterday. People have high expectations from the ACC…. I am leaving office with dissatisfaction that we could not fulfil people s expectations to that level, he said.
Iqbal was addressing a views-exchange meeting with the media at the ACC headquarters in the capital s Segunbagicha before a farewell ceremony.
Iqbal said he carried out his activities in the last five years without any pressure from the government. He also said he refrained from making any decision when he thought that it might tarnish the image of the country.

The five-year tenure of the Anti-Corruption Commission is about to end and a new one is to take charge this month but the fate of the probes into 56 cases filed in connection with the BASIC Bank loan scam remains uncertain.
Whenever asked about progress in the last five years, the ACC sounded like a scratched record. It always said it had failed to find the Tk 4,500 crore siphoned off from the bank between 2009 and 2013.
Dissatisfied with the ACC s delays, the High Court in 2018 even raised the question of whether the investigation officers was in connivance with the accused .
