Choir unites through song

The Brisbane Pride Choir is a group dedicated to bringing those in the LGBTQIA+ community and allies together with music. With June being Pride Month, the choir is gearing up to perform all over Queensland, and have chosen Ipswich as the venue for June 27. Brisbane Pride Choir president Kelly Houston said the choir is a place for anyone within the LGBTQIA+ community to come together in a friendly space. “We accept people as members from every walk of life and we’re all about being a safe space,” Ms Houston said.

COVID restrictions bad news for music festival

Premium Content Subscriber only THERE was disappointing news for Ipswich live music fans this afternoon, with organisers of the Trip the Switch festival advising the event has been postponed. In a statement released late Friday afternoon, organisers said they were left no option but to postpone the festival, which was to be held at Willowbank on February 27, due to Queensland Health’s COVID-19 restrictions. A new date is yet to be confirmed. Ticketholders are encouraged to keep their tickets, and are advised to direct any questions to their place of ticket purchase. Organisers said they would confirm a revised date as soon as possible.

Ipswich theatre returns after horror 2020

Premium Content Subscriber only FOLLOWING a disastrous 2020 in which they were forced to rely on donations to survive, members of the Ipswich Little Theatre are just happy to be back in rehearsals. The usually proactive local theatre society was all but crippled by the onset of the pandemic last year, unable to hold performances at the city s famous Incinerator Theatre despite still having to pay the bills. Little Theatre spokeswoman Robyn Harm said if it wasn t for a grant from the RACQ Foundation, the group would have been in serious trouble ahead of the 2021 season.
