Brad wxcenter weather adlib look for some snow to continue to fall over Northern Iowa this afternoon while the southern half of the state stays mainly dry until this evening. That is when some wrap around rain snow showers will develop mainly after 8 pm for the metro. There could be another inch or two of accumulation tonight with these snow showers. They may also cause some slick spots on our highways. Drier, but Colder Weather will come our way on wednesday, but then milder temperatures will return just in time for the weekend next week is mainly dry, but much colder. Were called to Williams Pointe townhomes in this morning. Theres been information released so far. But we do know a man was taken to the hospital and released for injuries sustained in the incident. Waukee schools are no longer on lockdown that lasted about 30 minutes. Right now police are talking to potential suspects and still investigating. Sabrina of course well keep you posted. Of the biggest concerns is the expected snow during the morning commute in the cedar rapids area. The citys streets superintendent says his plan is to use a lotf salt on the roadways to prevenany snow from bonding and icing on the pavement. 7 56 06 timing on an event like this where most of the snow comes throughout the day hours, it makes it a little easier on our crews. We have more people here on dayshifts and we dont have to hold people over as much. The downside is we are dealing with a lot of traffic and people traveling. The city says, so far, this years crews have responded to 16 events some smaller and only two allplow events. The streets superintenden t also says the city has used less than half of the amount of salt they use in a typical winter. The city is also warning people that roads could become more slippery outside of city limits.
