Taking control in day one of the Iowa High School Girls State Golf meet in Adel is exactly what Washington did on Tuesday, as they sit a top of the standings halfway through the Class 3A competition.
The Demons shot a 52 above par 340 through 18 holes at River Valley Golf Course and that score was 17 strokes better than the rest of the competition. Gilbert is in second with a 357 and West Delaware third with 383. Washington is seeking the program’s sixth state title including fourth in the last seven years. Kiki Bruner is right in the mix for the individual crown with a +5 round of 77 that puts her just one shot off the lead. Eden Lorhbach of Gilbert leads the way with a 76. Anna Nacos put together a top five round, as her score of 80 is currently in fourth. Other Demon results included Makenna Conrad 90, Kaylin Long 93, Josie Tanner 96, and Alecia Goff 110.
