Ionia teen involved in Portland shooting sentenced to juvenile facility Ionia Sentinel-Standard IONIA An Ionia teenager involved in the Labor Day 2019 shooting in Portland has been sentenced to a juvenile facility.  Diego Bowerman, 17, of Ionia, was placed on probation and committed to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. An order committing Bowerman to the MDHHS was filed Friday, March 5, in Ionia County Eighth Circuit Court. Bowerman will initially be placed in a treatment program at the Shawono Center in Grayling, according to the order. He will remain in temporary custody at the Ionia County Jail, where he has been lodged since October, before being released to the center.
