Ione School Board announces new superintendent

IONE â Kevin Dinning has been hired as the new superintendent/secondary principal of the Ione School District effective July 1, according to a press release from the district board of directors. Dinning was one of three finalists who spent a day in the district in late March. Following extensive reference checking, Dinning was the unanimous selection by the board, according to Ione School District Board Chair Rob Crum. âWe are looking forward to Kevin bringing strong leadership and growth opportunities for our students,âÂ Crum said. Most recently, Dinning has served as the principal of Bonners Ferry High School and Bonners Ferry Middle School in Idaho. He has considerable teaching experience, including serving as a teacher coordinator in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Dinning received his masterâs degree from Concordia University and his bachelorâs degree from the University of Idaho.

District organizes meeting for superintendent candidates

IONE â The Ione School District is inviting district staff and the community to meet the four candidates for the districtâs superintendent position, according to a press release. The district will host a Meet the Candidates event on Thursday, March 18, at 5 p.m. in the Ione High School gymnasium, 445 Spring St., Ione. The candidates â Kevin Dinning, Daniel Koopman, Tracey Johnson and Spencer Byrd â will be on hand to speak briefly to the entire audience, and then be available to meet and answer questions with small groups. Mask wearing and social distancing will be enforced during the event. Dinning is a middle school principal in Idaho, while Koopman currently is an instructional dean at Southwestern Oregon Community College. Johnson is the elementary principal at Ione Community Schools and Byrd is a superintendent in Illinois.
