Its former board of trustees chair blames official incompetence, and fears that the rebuild on proven less-than-stable land won t go well.
But the school says its existing site is OK, its existing classrooms are healthy - which the Ministry of Education echoes - and that the rebuild will be fantastic .
More than 250 children who attend years 1 to 13 at the 60 percent Māori school, face another winter in spaces described like this in official reports that have ping-ponged back and forth since 2014.

Papatoetoe High School says it is willing to pay the price of staying closed until Monday so the rest of the country can move to less restricted Covid-19 alert levels.
Director-general of health Dr Ashley Bloomfield confirmed today three members of a second household connected with the high school have been found to have coronavirus, in addition to the first student and her parents who tested positive last weekend.
“There’s more than 300,000 children in that category not attending regularly. The scale of the problem is colossal.” Goldsmith pointed to the fact there was just one prosecution of a parent for truancy in the last year and suggested the country was creating “a culture of excuses” that focused too much on trying to make schools attractive to students, rather than on the consequences of non-attendance.
