The Indian government has established a panel to select a new chairman for Indian Oil Corp, following the retirement of S M Vaidya in August. The committee, which includes Public Enterprise Selection Board chairperson Mallika Srinivasan and former HPCL chairman M K Surana, will consider even retired executives for the role. The move is seen as an attempt to keep Vaidya in play, as the government previously gave him a one-year re-employment contract after he retired. Indian Oil is a key player in the country s fuel market and its chairman is a significant position in an election year.
