European Parliament lifts immunity of Golden Dawn lawmaker
European Parliament lawmakers have voted to waive the immunity of Greek delegate Ioannis Lagos. He was one of dozens convicted by a Greek court of running the far-right party Golden Dawn as a criminal organization.
Lagos was handed a 13-year jail term along with other convicted Golden Dawn members in October
The European Parliament on Tuesday announced that members had voted to waive the immunity from prosecution of fellow delegate Ioannis Lagos.
Lagos is one of 39 people, including 13 former Golden Dawn lawmakers, who were sentenced to jail terms after they were found guilty in October of running the party as a criminal organization.

Greek MEP Ioannis Lagos, a former member of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party, was arrested on Tuesday April 27 in the Belgian capital.
“I am in a police vehicle, thieves, atheists, anti-Hellenes are going to imprison me”, the elected official tweeted on Tuesday. According to a Greek police source, the arrest took place after the European Parliament lifted its parliamentary immunity.
