A total of 11 initiates have died in the Eastern Cape during this year’s winter traditional circumcision season. Six of the deaths were in the Mhlontlo municipality, two in King Sabata Dalindyebo, another two in Ingquza Hill and one in Mdantsane. A total of 119 initiates were admitted to hospitals for the treatment of complications arising from traditional circumcision.
The DA in the province has devised a turnaround strategy for financially distressed municipalities in the Eastern Cape whose sorry state affects the delivery of services.
