Tan Hong Sheng, 23, pleaded guilty to three charges of rioting, being a member of an unlawful assembly to assault a person and consorting with a person who had an offensive weapon.

Alverna Cher drops previous lawyer for pro bono one, to be remanded for 1 week

Alverna Cher Sheue Pin, the director of City Funeral Singapore, has been remanded for a week at the Central Police Division for further investigations to be carried out after she was charged on Dec. 3 with the death of her former boyfriend. The 38-year-old woman had been charged with one count of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Returning to court on Dec. 10 via video link, it was noted that she had discharged her previous solicitor. She is now represented by lawyers Josephus Tan, Marshall Lim and Cory Wong from Invictus Law on a pro bono basis. Permission has also been granted by the court for Cher to be taken out for the investigation.
