An opposition MP is seeking a censure debate against the government over its alleged failure to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pheu Thai MP for Nan, Cholnan Srikaew, said yesterday he will ask opposition parties to table a no-confidence motion against the government when the new parliamentary session begins on May 22. This is the right time to censure the government for failing to contain the pandemic, Mr Cholnan said.
The country has been hit by several waves of Covid-19, which have dealt severe blows to the economy. This shows the government does not measure up to the job, he said.

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], February 19 (ANI): To facilitate new industrial projects to take off without delay, the Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday gave the nod to amend the Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion Act, 2016 (PBIP Act, 2016) to incorporate provisions for automated deemed approval of various regulatory clearances.
Enabling the provision would not only expedite speedy approval/clearances but also assure industrial units of a time-frame within which clearances would be granted. With this Punjab becomes one of the few states to grant deemed approvals.

In 2020, more than BGN 1 billion worth of projects are certified under the Investment Promotion Act, which is a record for the last 6 years, announced Minister of Economy Lachezar Borisov at a working meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
He pointed out that our country has set a record in attracting
investments in times of crisis.
The certified projects are 34, 17 of which are in high-tech production and services, according to the Minister. These projects create 4,500 new jobs. Compared with 2019, this is almost twice as many.
The Economy Minister also pointed out that the promotion of existing projects continues, as the budget resource used for it is worth BGN 16.4 million. He explained that we are talking about 23 companies that have saved over 5,134 jobs. The projects that have been supported are worth BGN 438 million.
