GREENSBORO, Ga. — An ex-firefighter from Ocala, Fla., accused of shooting to death a friend inside his mansion in the affluent gated community of Reynolds at Lake Oconee two years ago, returned to court Tuesday. Chad Haufler Sr., 47, is charged with the murder of 52-year-old Marc Dimos, an Ohio resident, who was visiting Haufler at the home that he and his wife had recently purchased. The two men were friends and had spent several days together before the shooting happened. Haufler has remained free on $750,000 bail following a 2018 hearing held before Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Superior Court Chief Judge William A. Prior Jr.
