this is quite a week, john. thanks for being here. good to see you, see you next week, bro. welcome to the beat. i m ari melber, and we begin with this breaking news. the mar-a-lago search warrant has been unsealed. we have it. you may have heard, and most importantly, as you see here, this is something we don t usually get. we ve never gotten it for a former president, and we had no idea when the week started that we d be going through it. a documented list of the things that donald trump allegedly took or stole, property of the u.s. government and intelligence material. we re going get into this right now. we start with what s in here. we don t start with the law, although it is the law that brought us this information. we start with the search warrants property and inventory list. lets take a look. you re going see at the top how this works. search and seizure warrant. you see that? page 1 of it. then on page 5, and if we can,
classified material. and that is why the fbi searched mar-a-lago on monday. and we now also know what the fbi took. we ve got this list actually of it s literally here and it says the words receipt for property. so this is the inventory list. let me read some of this to you because they put on here in as much detail as they could. the executive grant for clemency regarding roger jason stone jr. info re the president of france. various classified ts/sci documents signifying one of the highest levels of classification. those are documents only meant to be viewed in a special government facility. those were found around mar-a-lago. a binder of photos, a hands written note, and it continues. miscellaneous secret documents. miscellaneous top secret documents. more miscellaneous top secret documents. miscellaneous confidential documents. miscellaneous secret documents. confidential document. this list goes on and on and on.
the warrant and inventory list could be unsealed right at 3 p.m. if not sooner. in a statement this morning, donald trump said he insists that both be revealed. keep in mind that statement is a bit disingenuous because donald trump and his team could unilaterally release any of those at any time. they have both of those documents. like i said, you re not going to want to go anywhere for the next two hours because a lot is changing. joining me now is ryan reilly, nbc news justice reporter. he has the background on what we could learn. ash live parker, national political correspondent. she s on the byline for that major scoop on nuclear weapons. joyce vance, a former u.s. attorney and msnbc legal analyst, to put this all into context for us. this reporting from the wall street journal, again, we don t have it yet but it appears that reporters have been able to see
step. they felt like they have exhausted other means with all of these documents. they decided to go ahead with the search warrant. they tried to take steps to de- escalate it, a little bit. they major folks showed up without any weapons and gear, you know? they had to give people a heads up and trying to do it somewhat discreetly. they thought hey, maybe this will not get out, because it did not come out while they were there. and of course, the former president put it out later that night after they had left. so, i think they were a little bit caught off guard but how quickly it snowballed. that became clear with the attorney general can yesterday. he made the statement and then moved to unseal it pretty quickly. so, i think at this point they have kind of gotten out some information that they feel shows why they took this step. i mean, as you can see from the inventory list, there was
