Politicians and corporate media have been demanding that we “listen to the science.” It started as a catch-phrase about the COVID-19 pandemic. But like most other trendy political phrases, it’s now being used in other contexts.
However, aside from assuming that science is foolproof, there’s plenty of hypocrisy involved in this political battle cry. Although perhaps the most hypocritical thing is that politicians and the media will demand that we “listen to the science” when it fits their narratives yet they avoid it like the plague whenever it will prove them wrong. And when it comes to crime and law enforcement, it seems politicians and corporate media are doing everything they can to avoid “science” and scientific evidence.
