bungalow in Edgbaston, Birmingham, has been retrofitted by realigning the roof, a key move that has rebalanced all proportions of the house
Birmingham-based practice Intervention Architecture has subtly realigned the roof’s form by insetting it and creating sharper coping lines on all elevations.

A new full-width linear extension with projecting windows to the rear creates additional space for a master bedroom, rear dining, utilities and an additional garden room.
Honey-toned wooden floors unify the house thoughout, contrasting with darker walnut joinery insertions including wall panelling, a study and kitchen, helping to create zoning and directionality within the largely open-plan space
