TOKYO - One of the major annual meteor showers, the Geminids reaches its peak from Sunday night through early Monday morning. The viewing conditions are good as the new moon arrives Tuesday, so moonlight will have almost no influence on observations of the night sky, according to the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. The meteor shower appears to shoot out in all directions from the radiant near Castor, one of the brightest objects in the constellation Gemini. The radiant is in the eastern sky on Sunday night and will reach its zenith through the early hours of Monday.
