OPINION: Most of your opinions are a waste of time. Every day we New Zealanders are blasted with new issues. Housing, breaching, the Australian Isis bride. Forming opinions and having your say on each fresh topic is hard work. It s time-consuming. That s why I try not to hold any views.
I don t get involved unless I have to. For example, I have no opinion on Oprah s two-hour interview with Harry and Meghan. That couple has a strange effect on people. Some become aggravated at their mere mention. They don t like Meghan, they worry about Harry, they think the whole thing is a vacuous money-making scam. Others think there is a right-wing plot against them. I don t care either way. I don t know them. They have no direct effect on my life. I d rather spend that time and energy hanging with my kids.

The Dotcom decade - and what it has cost the taxpayer
8 minutes to read
The Government s lawyers have spent 40,500 hours working on Megaupload- and Kim Dotcom-related cases over the past decade. If those lawyers were working 40-hour weeks, the effort exerted would be 19 years and six months of work - or two lawyers constantly working full time over the entire period the drama has unfolded.
If lawyers were builders, the work invested could have seen 40 houses built. If the case was theatre - which at times it has been - then 20 productions could have been staged.
Data released through the Official Information Act show that, in addition to the 40,500 hours, the case has cost $3.6 million in airfares, external solicitors fees, court fees, photocopying and other costs.
