abortion rights still enact a decades old ban? what happens with abortion pills? where can they and can t they be mailed? what about the politics, can a republican congress with a republican president now move to restrict all abortions across the can country? what can democrats do to reverse this, if anything? at least ten states quickly moved to implement laws effectively banning abortions since friday, some happened with trigger laws, another five states expected to enact further laws limiting abortion and all 26 states have laws that indicate they could outlaw or set extreme limits on the procedure. there were some protests across the country over the weekend, they were largely peaceful. and as some states move to restrict abortion rights others are taking steps to protect access and funding. some major companies are pledging to provide support not just for employees, in some cases they re saying they re going to provide support for dependents in states where abortions a

they know they don t have the votes on capitol hill. the energy secretary meeting behind the scenes with oil executives, trying to address that refinery issue. when you talk to democrats on capitol hill, they want more of that. they want things they can point to, actions, or rhetoric. they want people to blame besides putin s price hikes. white house officials went to capitol hill to brief democrats on economic messaging. that s what the invitation said. they showed up late. they did not give a lot of answers, according to house democrats that were in the room. they were very unsatisfied with that briefing. i think that underscores this moment here. you talk to white house officials, they dispute how the tone of the meeting was generally. it just underscores, there is no good answer, there is no great political message. what this takes, more than anything else, is time. right now i think we need to talk to democrats on capitol hill, they don t believe they have it. no. phil mattingly
