The order is extended to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in jurisdictions of Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa, including Dabwali, districts in Haryana
Last month, the Court urged the Union Territory administration to publicise review committee orders related to internet bans in the region, saying that they were not meant to be kept in the cupboard.
In an order on February 16, the home ministry had directed the shutdown of internet in several districts of Punjab, including Patiala, Sangrur and Fatehgarh Sahib, till February 24. Internet ban by Haryana and Rajasthan in districts bordering Punjab will also see partial modifications, said officials.
Deepak Jain, president, Town and Village Welfare Society, Lehragaga town in Sangrur district, said, “We have been facing internet problems since February 11. If the government doesn't restore the supply by Tuesday, we will snap the wires of mobile towers in our localities.”
