Travel of Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues Cherrie Daniels to Poland
The Department of State’s Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues, Cherrie Daniels, will make her second official visit to Poland July 2-11.
Her first visit as Envoy was in January 2020, as part of the U.S. delegation to the Polish government-hosted commemoration marking the 75
th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration and death camp in Oswiecim. During that first visit, and with her office’s support, the United States Department of State announced an additional 2 million dollars to the Auschwitz Birkenau Foundation for the long-term maintenance of the Auschwitz Birkenau State Museum, bringing the overall U.S. contribution to 17 million dollars.
