While the loss of a loved one is always difficult, losing someone to suicide can add another level of pain to your grief. A South Jordan family is grieving the loss of two of their children who died by suicide.
FRI., NOV. 18 Tree Lighting Celebration The Promenade at Westlake lights up its massive holiday tree, complete with a holiday show featuring musical entertainment, the arrival of Santa Claus and a fireworks finale. Pre-show festivities include strolling entertainment, kids’ activities and a Holiday Market featuring treats from restaurants and retailers. 5 p.m. preshow, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 19 is International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day. The Central Oregon Suicide Prevention Alliance [COSPA] with the support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention [AFSP] are coordinating an in-person gathering from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Bend at the First Presbyterian Church to commemorate this day. This event is for anyone who has been impacted by suicide. This event will include a documentary produced by the AFSP that offers a message of growth, resilience and connection. In addition, there will be guest speakers and small group discussions facilitated by trained individuals. Registration is required and those interested are asked to please sign up at their earliest convenience.
