West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the 47th International Kolkata Book Fair, themed on the UK. The fair features the UK Pavilion showcasing literature, arts, science, and English language learning. Banerjee highlighted the historical ties between India and the UK, dating back to the Battle of Plassey in 1757 and mentioned the presence of Indian students in UK universities and the long rule of the British in India.
Inaugurating the International Kolkata Book Fair on Thursday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that relations between India and the UK have spanned over a long time since the Battle of Plassey in 1757.
The UK is the theme country of this 47th edition of the book fair.

We have to make other languages stronger and must be paying attention to regional ones which are languishing, says the International Booker Prize winner
